ACTING CLASSES - ALL AGES

Our acting courses are taught by credited instructors with experience in film / live theatre - behind the camera and on camera.

Our kid classes focus on building children’s confidence and creativity. Our teen class navigates their journey into adulthood and choosing a career in the acting industry. Our adult class dives into the historical art form of acting through peace, creativity, inspiration, and unity. Private lessons are offered for those who want an individualized and concentrated experience with our credited instructors.

All age levels practice bringing fresh perspectives into their many hours of dedicated work.

Meet Our Coaches

Jency Griffin Hogan - CEO and Acting Instructor

Jency is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduating college with a degree from Louisiana Tech University in theatre, then acted in Los Angeles for 8 years before returning to once again be a vital part of Louisiana's film community. She has produced short films such as Madeline's Oil, With My Soul, Painted Parakeets, The Verses, Bamboo House, Mommy Makeover and Seed of the Free. She has recently co-directed and helped produce a western epic called Devil's Hitching Post. She has also worked on the producer team of Blaze a bio-pic directed by Ethan Hawke and recently she has been working as a reoccurring character on the TNT summer hit Claws where she plays Vera Minder. Days of Daisy is Hogan’s first feature film to produce and put out into the world. Jency opened Love Acting to create a space for foundational acting training here in the south where the film industry is growing rapidly and opportunities for Louisiana native actors and actresses can become readily available. Jency and her husband built a state of the art studio to be a creative hub for Baton Rouge. She wants to spread her knowledge and training with anyone who aspires to be a professional actor.

Alaina Canaday- Administrative Assistant & Teens/Kids Acting Coach

Alaina Canaday is the administrative assistant at Love Acting and the youth acting coach. As an admin assistant, she serves as the liaison of communication between students and staff and is committed to helping the school run efficiently. She also teaches the weekly youth acting classes, using her film knowledge and gentle, passionate nature to help tune the performance skills of little, bright minds. Alaina is an actress, writer, musician, and aspiring filmmaker with experience both acting in and working behind the scenes as a writer, 1st AD, and producer’s assistant in commercials and short films, most recently “Maybe Baby” and “Truth Day”. Alaina’s goal is to collaborate with the uniquely talented arts community in Baton Rouge to create films that will bring our beautiful city to the spotlight.  

Bill Martin Williams- Acting Coach

Bill is a working actor who has worked extensively on stage, in film and in Television. Titles include; NICKEL BOYS, DAISY JONES AND THE SIX, DEVOTION, THE THING ABOUT PAM and YOUR HONOR among others. He has had the pleasure of working with stars Bryan Cranston, Renee Zellweger, Tom Hanks and Kirsten Dunst. Additionally Bill has directed several stage productions and has years of experience teaching acting in New York, Dallas and here in Baton Rouge. Here at Love Acting, Bill teaches advanced acting students through scene study with the aim of improving acting skills, giving actors new tools and mastering auditions in order to book work.

Virginia Tucker- Online Private Acting Coach

Virginia Tucker is an actress and writer whose work has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Critics Choice Awards, SXSW Festival, and Louisiana Film Prize. Virginia got her first professional acting job at the age of 13 and has been at it ever since! She trained with many renowned coaches in Los Angeles and in comedy improv at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade. She truly understands how to support actors of all ages in discovering what a scene is about, engaging their imagination, and guiding in emotionally connecting. Her first hand experience as both a writer and actor allows her to fully teach from having gone through the process herself. Virginia’s acting work has spanned everything from dramatic crime shows such as Criminal Minds, to thrillers on Lifetime, to larger than life comedies like Bottoms. She has auditioned for everything under the sun, from 1000s of YA projects, indies, Disney Channel, dramas, and more. 

Robin Palmer Blanche- Screenwriting Instructor

Robin Palmer Blanche has decades of entertainment industry expertise, having served as an executive at major networks including MTV, CMT, and Lifetime Television, where she oversaw the development and production of over 100 scripts and 35 movies. A member of the Writers Guild of America since 2003, she has written numerous feature film screenplays and television pilots for Paramount, Nickelodeon, Miramax, A&E, and Hallmark. Her young adult novel "Geek Charming" was adapted into a successful Disney Channel movie, and she created and wrote the pilot for the Nickelodeon series based on her "Yours Truly, Lucy B. Parker" books. As a former adjunct instructor in Tulane University's Digital Media Practices Department, she developed and taught various screenwriting courses while serving as a vital liaison between students and the Hollywood community.

Do you need to take classes to become an actor?

This is a commonly asked question. Yes! Just like you practice for a sport, you study, rehearse, and perfect your craft. You are always a student of the art and never stop learning and discovering

Acting is a craft where you can always keep learning and stretching yourself.

Love Acting provides a place that actors can be anywhere in their journey and they can discover a new level of their ability and strength.

AUDITION TAPING

The Self Tape! All actors who are auditioning need to be ready and able to self tape at any moment. Many actors struggle with keeping equipment, finding the right space and lighting, and editing. Love Acting welcomes all auditioning actors to come to our studio where you will enjoy the effortless process of our professional team taping your audition for you. In our acting studio, we use our high quality camera and lighting along with a complementing backdrop to have you looking your best.

All of our team are in the film industry and guide you in your audition to make sure the actor has performed their best as well as the audition is up to industry expectations. Once the audition is taped we edit and send the audition to you to submit. We are so proud to continue to be a creative hub for Baton Rouge and can’t wait to experience the talent that will be joining us in the studio!
